Linktree and Alex Zaccaria | Bogan Doom and the Mediocre Widget That Costs More Money Than It’s Worth
Alex Zaccaria apparently has more than one thing in common with Alex Wegescheidt
In October 2021, Alex Wegescheidt, an obsessed German cyber stalker who repeatedly harmed Shore Thang via social media takedowns, turned his energy to Linktree.
Like many content creators, Shore Thang models depend on Linktree as a destination to drive traffic to our various social profiles as well as our websites, which earn all our models income.
Wegescheidt is a mentally infirm, unemployed German person who has been drawing government assistance since 2010.
Linktree, apparently anxious and competitive to show the world their own mental incapacity emerged boldly from the penal colony better known as Straya, and deliberately allowed Wegescheidt to disable our primary Linktree profile by filing numerous malicious takedowns and posting cartoonishly false statements about me, the owner of Shore Thang, and Suzanne our business transactional attorney.
In order to obtain the false statements which Wegescheidt sent to Linktree, Shore Thang was tasked with filing a subpoena in California Superior Court, then serving it to Linktree’s attorneys in Australia.
When Linktree finally gave up their data in March 2022, the insanity which Wegescheidt sent them was so over the top and gallingly obvious that it led our internal investigation directly to Niki Peacock, a morbidly obese and emotionally unstable former Shore Thang model. Niki Peacock later produced her months-long Instagram direct message conversations with Wegescheidt to avoid civil liability.
It struck me as odd that Alex Zaccaria and his company would support such a vile and absurd villain.
Linktree moderators clearly favored the anonymous reporting methods of Wegescheidt and failed to exercise due care when disabling our Linktree profile. Below is a sample of Wegescheidt’s unrehearsed madness, which he sent to Linktree. Apparently, Linktree mods at the direction of CEO Alex Zaccaria just ate it up.
The “John Holmes” pseudonym below has been used by Alex Wegescheidt on Facebook, Youtube, and Instagram, as well.

Submitted at 09/28/21 12:27 AM Name: John Holmes Email: johnholmes13@web.de URL of Linktree you are reporting: https://linktr.ee/shorethang Type of report: Privacy and impersonation What is the reason for reporting this Linktree?: Hey, I´d like to report this user as a scammer and impersonator, they are using stolen intellectual property (like pictures and videos) of multiple models I know of…
Those victims are: Niki Peacock, Ellie The Empress, Kendra Rowe 18/19, Lauren Burch and Julia Burch, who got their names, pictures and videos stolen, where Shorethang with their head Zach Elliot created websites of fraudulent content impersonating them…
This Zach guy also sexually assaulted two of those girls who are currently filing lawsuits about involuntary porn and defanation of charcter, among those sexual abuse lawsuits…
This informations were brought to me in a confidential manner, but those two girls had their names stolen and made into a trademark, so that every search engine leads to those scam pages created by shorethang and not the actual and rightful owners by birth of said names…
Apart from the scam, fraud, impersonation attempts, I´m sure your company won´t be associated to a rapist like Zach Elliot, right?
Thanks for your report. We’re investigating this content. If necessary, we’ll take action according to our Community Standards (https://linktr.ee/s/community-standards/).
Sincerely,
Linktree Trust & Safety

06:02 PM | johnholmes13@web.de: Hello Roan,
thanks for your reply and that you were investigating, as it was brought to my attention that this rapist just got his linktree back!
Let me guess, he filed a complaint, talking about ‘hurting his business’, or did you threaten with his ‘company lawyer’ (who lost her license due to fraud btw), as both are part of his M.O. when he faces consequences!
Or do you just not care enough about your company´s reputation, when a well known sexual abuser and rapist is using your platform to spread child pornography, impersonate his victims, stealing their legal names?
I hope you will investigate this further and shut them down for good, just try to put yourself in my shoes when one of your friends would have become a victim of this rapist!
Best Regards,
John Holmes
This discovery evidence touched off our anonymous defendents lawsuit in California and allowed us to refocus out legal efforts squarely on Wegescheidt. The local polizei in Troisdorf, Germany have since paid Wegescheidt a visit.
Linktree was essentially let off the hook because Wegescheidt’s defamation per se actions seemed more dire at the moment. Those days, as you might gather, are swiftly coming to a close.
Four Years Later: Linktree fails again
Later, in November 2025, Linktree again moderated one of our profiles, over the same German cyber stalker. At this point, it became clear that Linktree is more interested in shielding itself from potential legal liability than protecting content creators who actually paid them money.
Although I didn’t know it at the time, CEO Alex Zaccaria was personally involved in growing the company into a global social media platform and appeared to have developed a completely tone deaf mentality, prioritizing growth at all costs.
In this way, Alex is desperately seeking the approval of other, like-minded tech bros in San Francisco.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Zaccaria and his brother appear to spend time in San Francisco, California attempting to parlay their tremendous and unearned luck into another start-up.
Alex Zaccaria offers via his own Linktree profile a 30 minute chat for 300 AUD. Rather than suing Alex and Linktree for gross negligence over this Wegescheidt fiasco, I am considering booking his time just to hear the soft, whimpering lilt of his bogan voice. So tempting… We shall see.
I would never guess that Alex Zaccaria and Alex Wegescheidt would find themselves on the same side of illegal behavior.
Two months later, in January 2026 LInktree again came to their senses and restored our profile, but only after omitting the article which mentioned Wegescheidt. Astonishing work, to be a cyber stalker’s bagman.

Who needs a criminal defense attorney when you have Alex Zaccaria and Linktree providing cover for illegal activities?
We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused during the time your account was unavailable.

And finally, the fall of Linktree and Shore Thang
In February 2026, I was surprised to see Linktree had raised their prices 50% without adding any apparent value. I promptly requested a refund and was given a spectacular runaround by the underpaid and underskilled overseas support team which Linktree uses to avoid responsibility for their glorified widget.
Below are the back and forth emails between me and Linktree support persons, which clearly do not have much to offer.
Final note: Before reading the farce below, understand that I spent 8 hours coding our own homebrew Shore Thang models link widget and then replacing our former Linktree on 800 or so Youtube videos, as well as several company instagram accounts.
At the time of this writing, I have demanded $25,320 USD for Linktree’s ham fisted nonsense over the last four years.
To clear things up, although my name is Zach Urbina, you should understand that when Linktree support persons are referring to “Molly” and “Shore” they also mean me. Your guess is as good as mine…

Hi there, this is Maricris from the Linktree Team.
I’m really sorry for the confusion and the inconvenience caused by this charge. The higher price is due to a pricing update we rolled out across all paid plans, reflecting new features designed to help you grow and monetize your audience more easily.
Some of the updates include:
Expanded custom design options
Smarter analytics with Instagram auto‑reply
Digital storefronts to sell courses or downloads directly
Sponsored link partnerships and simple scheduling tools
Advanced integrations to help convert visitors into customers
It also looks like the previous subscription wasn’t cancelled before it expired, which led to an automatic renewal. I truly apologize for this and appreciate you reaching out so we can resolve it.
The payment was successfully processed on 01 Feb 2026. I’ve scheduled a cancellation on the subscription so you won’t be charged again once the current term ends. However, if you’d prefer to cancel right away, please let us know and we’ll proceed with that request.

I see. So, without any advance warning, Linktree raised the lie subscription price by 10x thinking no one would notice.
You’re an Australian company, right?
This seems like a great opportunity to learn more about the ACL and to find out what sort of relief the ACCC might offer.
I’ll follow up here again, after doing more research.
Trashy move.

I completely understand how upsetting this feels, and I want to assure you that we take your concerns seriously. While we did send notifications ahead of the pricing update, I recognize that these can sometimes be overlooked, and I apologize if that was the case here.
Linktree is headquartered in Australia, and we operate in line with the Australian Consumer Law. Transparency and fairness are very important to us, and we’re committed to making sure our customers feel supported.
That said, we want to ensure you’re not locked into a subscription that doesn’t meet your needs. To resolve this quickly, I’ve gone ahead and processed a refund for the recent charge. You should see the refund reflected on your payment method within 5-10 business days, depending on your bank.
We truly value your feedback. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and I hope this resolution provides peace of mind.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything else.

Since you think it fair to surge your subscription fees 10x what they previously were, I will accept a refund 10x what you charged without notice.
A refund in the amount of $ 3,523.00 usd can be sent to my company bank account.
If you choose not to refund the requested amount, I will find a creative way to sort this out.
You have 5-10 business days to refund the requested amount.
Still, quite the trashy company.

Hey MJ,
This is not acceptable or accepted in any way.
As stated previously, if you can bring the heat by gouging customers 10x what they were paying previously, you can abide those same rules.
Until this matter is settled to our satisfaction, you can expect more heat.

Hi Zach,
I understand your concern, and I want to clarify that we are unable to refund a charge that we did not collect. However, we have already issued a full refund for the charge that we did initiate. Beyond this, there isn’t anything further we can do on our end.
To give you a bit more context about your subscription: the charge in question was for the annual premium plan on your profile @shorethang. Your previous invoice was $4,020.00 and it increased to $5,820.00. Since we issued the refund, you were not impacted by the price change.
We really appreciate your understanding, and please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

I’m not going to share screenshots, becuase you have more data than me and really just need to learn the calculator.
The difference between a Mexican peso and a US Dollar is 17:1. So, let’s do math…
We signed up for a premium linktree at $7 usd per month or 120 mxn. Then you charged us in usd for the numbers which were originally in the Mexican currency.
In your defense, I do travel between Mexico City and California. We’re not fully out of this mess yet:
1. I would like to continue on with Linktree. You may comp this account for one free year (strupidity tax, I’m sorry)
2. I will need a second refund, becuase paypal tied up our account in the ammount of 352.30 usd
So, for your miscalculations, I’m basically squeezing Linktree for one free year of premium and a double refund. Does that make sense and sound fair?

The charges we are seeing are in Mexican currency, so we are unable to compare them without a screenshot. Providing a screenshot will also help us confirm if you are referring to the same charge. Please kindly share the file so we can take a closer look and check if the charge might be linked to any other account you have.
Thank you for sharing the screenshot, Molly. I don’t see any note indicating that the charge in red was made by Linktree. Could you please click on the charge and let me know the date it was initiated and who collected it? This information will help us confirm whether the charge was made by our team.
Please see attached. The amount of time and energy you have invested in denying the mistakes you made, when you are clearly at fault, is truly remarkable.
Stop arguing.
I would like you to please return this amount of money (in USD) and offer us one year of free service, for the trouble. Seems fair.
How Does Linktree Takedown Content? Who is Becca Liu Boyle?
To understand better how Linktree removes content, we asked one of our models to report a profile belonging to Rebecca Liu Doyle. Becca Liu Doyle loves Linktree and their bogan ways. She sits on their board of directors, apparently works for Insight Partners (we could not substantiate this claim) and has her own Linktree profile, which we attempted to takedown using false claims and fake reporting, similar to the methods Alex Wegescheidt used when knocking down our two Linktree profiles.
Here is our science.
The two emails from Linktree below indicate that in 2026, Linktree content moderators ask for an ID, in order to remove someone else’s content.
This means one of two things:
Linktree removed our content in 2021 and 2025 without collection Alex Wegescheidt’s ID, or
Linktree removed our content in 2021 and 2025 knowing that Alex Wegescheidt was using a fake name.
Either way, gross. What do you think Becca Liu Doyle?
